Conservative spring conference to be held in Wales
The Conservative Party has announced that it will hold its UK spring conference in March with Newport as the chosen venue, ahead of Wales’ Senedd election in May.
The Tories have said that the spring conference will occur “alongside” the 2021 Welsh Conservative conference, with Conservative Party co-chair Amanda Milling saying that the event would “bring together Conservative supporters from across the country in a key election year for Wales”.
The event at Newport’s International Convention Centre [ICC] Wales will be attended by up to 8,000 people and it will bring £20 million into the local economy in what the ICC called a “tremendous boost to our events industry”.
Its chief executive Ian Edwards said that the conference will be of help to the sector as it looks to recover from the impact of the Covid-19 crisis.
