Mistura launch MaPPs free trial as part of Covid-19 response
Mistura Informatics Limited is a software developer of medicines information and medicines adherence applications based in Ashington, Northumberland. In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, the business has launched a three-month free trial of its flagship MaPPs online system to aid patients and healthcare professionals during the crisis.
MaPPs [Medicines: A Patient Profile Summary] is an online system providing bespoke medicine information for patients, available for over 6000 medicines used in the UK. The system automatically delivers both Medication Administration Records and reminder charts.
Any medicine information leaflets on the system are produced as PDF files and can be viewed online, downloaded, sent electronically, printed, and uploaded to the clinical system. Leaflets also come with easy-read and pictogram functions to render them accessible to people with learning difficulties, as well as patients who may not speak English as a first language.
Some NHS trusts have found during the Covid-19 pandemic that giving MaPPs information leaflets together with a reminder or MAR chart has proven useful. The fact that leaflets can be sent electronically has already helped healthcare professionals offer advice remotely, particularly to patients who may be self-isolating.
Furthermore, use of the MaPPs system offers a practical solution for providing staff returning to the frontline from retirement with new information, considering that they may not be up to date with current medicines.
MaPPs has already gained national recognition after being nominated as a finalist in the 2017 Health Service Journal: Improving Care with Technology Awards, for its role in improving patient outcomes within the NHS.
