Rory Stewart, former candidate for the Conservative leadership campaign, has disclosed he will be standing down from his seat in Penrith and The Border at the next general election.
According to a voting intention survey undertaken by ComRes, the Brexit Party are on course to overtake the Conservative Party in the House of Commons if a general election were to take place.
Labour have retained the Newport West parliamentary west following a by-election, with the results being announced early this morning. While Labour did retain the seat, their majority was reduced from 5,658 to 1,951.
