Employment at highest level since records began

Britain’s employment rate has reached its highest level since records began, according to new figures published today. The number of people in work rose by 473,000 in the last year, while the unemployment rate fell to 3.9 per cent in November-January, the lowest rate since 1975.

First ever National Adviser for LGBT Health announced by government

Penny Mordaunt, Minister for Women and Equalities, has announced the appointment of the first ever National Advisor for LGBT Health in the NHS. This role will be filled by Dr Michael Brady, the Medical Director of the Terrence Higgins Trust and HIV consultant at Kings College Hospital.

Labour set to back confirmatory public vote on Brexit

Jeremy Corbyn has announced that he will likely whip MPs to support an amendment for a "confirmatory" referendum on May's Brexit deal. The Kyle-Wilson amendment, drafted by Labour backbenchers Peter Kyle and Phil Wilson, calls for the withdrawal agreement to be "approved by the people of the United Kingdom in a confirmation ballot."
